Tips for the INDIO internet radio:
- Connection
Please make sure your device is able to access the network. If that's not the case, try to reset the INDIO using the „Factory Reset“ option. Please make sure to try resetting several times (2-3x) in case of network problems. Each time waiting some moments after the reset.
- Connection Problems at the first start
In case your INDIO is searching for an unavailable network, press the BACK-Key several times, until you are in the main menu. Change to the configuration menu and start a Firmware-Reset. The device should work properly now.
- Connection Time / Power Saving Mode
Due to the latest EU regulations regarding energy consumption of electronic devices, there are several power management features implemented, that are activated by default on some units. Because of this, the amplifier and the WiFi-Adapter of your INDIO are disconnected during standby mode, which leads to a longer connection time.
If you would like to have the usual faster connection time of about 2-3 sec instead of 15-20 sec, please enter the network settings inside the configuration menu and set the "Wireless Standby“ option to "ON".
- 802.11n Mode
If your 802.11n capable device does only connect in 802.11g mode, please note that the 802.11n mode is only able to use AES encryption, as specified in the 802.11n specifications (not TKIP or WEP!). Therefore, please set your Router to AES encryption if you want to use the 802.11n mode. You may also set the Router to fixed 802.11n mode.
- WPA2 Support
INDIO units do support WPA2 encryption once they have a newer Firmware. To be able to use WPA2 it might be neccessary to upgrade the Firmware of your unit. Please follow the regarding instructions in the user's manual.
- Firmware Update
If possible, you should do at least one firmware upgrade once you receive your INDIO unit, to get access to the latest Firmware version (see the manual for more information). Firmware updates will mostly provide new features and improvements (like more comfortable scrolling, WPA2, etc.). Please note that you will not be able to undo a done Firmware upgrade!
Firmware upgrade INDIO classic
Please note: Due to many customers wishes, the bass of our INDIO classic units was reduced in the second firmware. Therefore make sure to consider this before upgrading and in case you want to keep the actual sound profile please avoid upgrading your unit!
IMPORTANT:
Don't disconnect power or Internet connection while upgrading your unit! Your unit could get damaged and rendered useless! Such a defect will not be covered by the normal warranty!
- Function Test
From our experience, classic stations are most suitable for testing the sound of your new INDIO. Try to use for example "Bartok Radio" - (Search: "Bartok") to test the sound of your INDIO
- Connection or App Problems
If you experience frequent connection loss, buffering or App problems, please do the following: First try a Firmware reset, then update the INDIO as well as the Router (important!) to the latest Firmware version. Set both to use WPA1 encryption. Delete App as well as it's Settings and re-Install it. Now change the UPnP device name (Settings -> UPnP). If you do still experience problems, please return your unit for a checkup.
- Sound Settings
The settings for changing treble/bass, can be found in the configuration menu of your INDIO.
- Snooze Function
If you should own a unit without snooze-button you can easily simulate one. Set your timer to for example 8:00 o'clock and another maybe to 8:15. This allows you to simulate a very flexible snooze timer even without a special snooze button!
- Mac / iTunes
If you do install a UPnP software for Mac (e.g. elgato EyeConnect), is should be no problem connecting your INDIO to for example iTunes.
- flac Support
flac files should mainly be streamed using UPnP since not all flac files (depending on the encoding) can be played flawlessly from shared folders.
- Username and Password
In case you are asked to provide Username and Password when connecting to a server or accessing a shared folder that should not require such, please make sure your server or folder names do not contain umlauts or special characters, as described in the manual.
- Factory Reset
You can reset your device back to its original state using this menu item in the configuration menu. If problems should arise, this might be helpful. In case of doubt, please use the reset several times (2-3x) and wait for a short moment each reset, until the device has restarted.
- Favorites by Remote
Our newer units support adding your Favorites via remote control. To use this function press the REPLY-Button of your remote control while the Station is playing. The radio needs to be registered in your Reciva account (Register).
- Coverdisplay INDIO color
To make the INDIO color display Album-Cover's from your USB flash drive, name the picture file "Folder.jpg" and place it in the Album folder.
- Power Consumption
INDIO units are pretty economical and do just consume about 3 Watts in standby mode. INDIO mini does consume about 5 Watts at full volume.
- NAS
If you find yourself having trouble setting up an INDIO unit with your NAS-Sytem, the following tips might help:
- Try to keep the number of files and subfolders within your main music folder as small as possible
- Try to keep the path/filename as short as possible
- Avoid umlauts and special characters in your file and folder names
Unfortunately, it is not possible to test every NAS system because of the variety of different system combinations possible. Because of that neither a functional guarantee nor any support regarding this matter can be granted.
- Music Services
You can use music services like Aupeo! Live365 or MP3tunes for free on your INDIO Internet radio. For this purpose, first do a firmware update as described in the manual, then install the desired music service as follows:
- Live365
Live 365 should be directly available after upgrading to the latest firmware. If you want to use the Live365 preset folder (favorites), please register on 'www.live365.com' and deposit your files in your Reciva Account (My-Stuff-> Live365). Inside the menu item 'Stations' at your INDIO you will find the Live365 main menu. At ‘MyStuff’ you will find your personal Live365 favorites.
- Aupeo!
To get access to Aupeo, use the menu ‚Aupeo!‘ (MyStuff->Aupeo!) within your Reciva Account and create a new account/testaccount or enter your existing access data for Aupeo. Aupeo should be available on the INDIO in the category ‘MyStuff’ now.
- MP3tunes
To use MP3tunes, create an appropriate account/testaccount on 'www.mp3tunes.com'. Use your Reciva login to access the specific Website 'devices.reciva.com' (important!) and enter the login data of your created MP3tunes account. MP3tunes should be available at your INDIO right after that.
All services can be activated and set up at ‘devices.reciva.com‘.
(Accessing the services requires the radio to be linked to your Reciva Account. You will find full explanation on registering your radio at Reciva in the manual at the section ‘Registration’)
